At my jam-packed 3-day summer school, young people aged between 16 and 18 had the opportunity to learn the skills needed to make a real difference in our community.

The Summer School offered a first-hand insight into the exciting world of political and social campaigning by bringing together the expertise of veteran political activists and partner organisations.

“I know from my own experience that whether you’re dealing with environmental issues, crime, education and housing, effective campaigning is the key to influencing and challenging those in power. So, I am determined to do all I can to empower our young people to be the change they want to see in the world.”

Abena Oppong-Asare MP

Over the course of 3 days, attendees designed their very own local campaigns and got a unique opportunity to turn their ideas into action.

Feedback from the 2023 cohort:

“Having people from my Council and from nearby area give talks and connect with them opened a big world of opportunities. I realised the power of my voice and listening to all their experiences gives me hope for the future.”

“Loved it, love Abena, keep it up. It’s important for young people to be educated about government and the make up of politics in the country we live in.”

“It was an amazing opportunity, it made it clear what we as young people can do to make a change, it inspired me to start a campaign and campaign to change something I am passionate about”
